Saturday

Sorry, haven't posted in a while....

Will try to resurrect this blog again.  As you saw I did sell my 1984 126 SD.  I found a nice 124 a few months after I sold the 126 as I was missing not driving an MB.

This was the 92 300D with the 2.5 turbo.  I think it had close to 400K when I sold it on Ebay.  Here are some pics that I dug up from my pc.  Next week I will post about my w210 that I am driving now and also I will try to get some pics and info on my 1993 Chevy 1500 6.2L diesel truck.  So look for that and as usual your comments are appreciated and let me know if you have any questions.

Monday

Sold W126

Hi Everyone..I have owned several MB Diesels since 1990. Although I don't have a favorite, they all were outstanding. I have sold the W126 you see in the first post, some lucky guy from Ohio wanted it and took it off my hands. Currently, only left with my wife's 2005 Jetta TDI which is running great!

Ps - Just put together a quick poll you see on the left. This poll about MB's as I know more about them and in coming weeks will poll VW, Trucks and other diesels also.

Tuesday

AC all fixed for now on my W126SD

After the near 80 degree Sunday the temp today, Monday was only just reaching 50 at most. But I went and saw Steve Rigoli who checked the compressor and which was working thank god and he filled the refregerant. This machine he has also lubricates and evacuates while it is filling it. However, there is a small leak near the compressor and due to the age of the SD I just have to live with it and service the ac every season.

Steve then checked the little fuel filter with a flash light and it was all clear so I don't have to replace it yet. I had a bunch of old oil in my trunk and he let me dump it in the oil dumpster.

So I will keep an eye on the ac for the next week see if it will kick in which will mean that the leak hasn't gotten bigger and hopefully will last the summer. All in all it was a good trip to Steve's shop. Talk soon.

Sunday

AC Compressor didn't kick in on the old gal

It was a georgeous Sunday in the Nation's Capital and its suburbs where we live in Croom, Md. I think the temps got up there. I decided to drive down and when I turned the knob to blue with the fan on high and pressed the arrow button nothing but hot air. I didn't hear the compressor click in. So I went back to peachparts.com forums and found that there is a safety switch which prevents the compressor to kick in if it detects a low level of refregrent. I have a call in to Steve Rigoli (BTW if you are in the DC area he is a person to talk to for all your german car questions). Will see Steve on Tuesday and hopefully it is not the compressor this time. Talk soon!

Friday

Denise my wife drives 2005 VW Jetta TDI..

and she swears by it. Before I steered her towards the Jetta when the new body style cane out in 2005, she never liked small cars, foreign cars and Mercedes in general. She was a Dodge/Jeep girl. But all that changed as she complained about her Jeep Grand Cherokee which was giving 14mpg and her daily commute was 150 miles. She has put about 90K since we bought it in 2005. Oh..she also did not choose the Prius which we looked at. Anyway she is happy with TDI and I will try to get a pic up soon. I drive it every now and then and it is a blast to drive especially with the DSG. Talk soon. Sorry forgot, TDI MPG anywhere from 45 - 50. It is a 1.9l 4cyl and a lot of fun.

Thursday

My 84 126 - 300SD

Hi everyone..this is a blog about Older Mercedes Benz Diesels
namely the ones from 1972 thru 1989. Why the name DieselDood? That is the name I took on a forum at mercedesshop.com

I currently own a 1984 300sd, miles are approximately 250K
but it runs good and has been well maintained. It is also for sale currently at cars.com where you can read more about it.

Will be adding more info about other models during this era and maintanance tips etc as I go along. Will talk to Steve Rigoli, the owner at IslandImports.biz who has a wealth of knowledge about these cars. Steve owns this shop which specializes in Mercedes and other German automobiles.

Also will be talking to Mario DiSaverio who interestingly is a chiropractic doctor but has messed around and tweaked these diesels all this life. He has helped me out many times. He is in Annapolis, MD at innerphysician.com. That is all for now.
